Introducing Jane Walker, the First Female Iteration for Johnnie Walker Black Label

See Jane represent. For the very first time, legacy Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker has debuted a female iteration of its famous Striding Man logo in recognition of women who lead the way. The new design can be spotted on bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label The Jane Walker Edition everywhere beginning in March.

The Striding Man has spent more than a century shaping Johnnie Walker’s history and the brand’s direction in moving forward. For the next step forward and coinciding with Women’s History Month, Jane Walker will lead the way.

Her creation celebrates the achievements of women and empowers everyone on the journey towards progress in gender equality. Some of those achievements can be traced back to the Johnnie Walker brand too! In 1893, Elizabeth Cumming sold the Cardhu distillery to John Walker & Sons, playing a pivotal role in the spirit’s legacy since Cardhu is one of the single malts that compromises Johnnie Walker Black Label. Elizabeth Walker, wife of founder John Walker worked alongside John and their son in the Walker grocery shop to create and sell the blended whisky to customers.

Much like the original Striding Man icon, Jane Walker’s design keeps to the same black and white palette. She is impeccably dressed, wearing a tailcoat, pants, shirt and tie, gloves, and top hat. Jane strides with purpose as her right hand clutches a cane and her left hand tips the brim of her hat towards us. She has her own tagline — With Every Step, We All Move Forward — and hashtag, #WalkWithJane.

Johnnie Walker has pledged to donate $1 for every bottle of the Jane Walker Edition produced, up to $250,000. Donations will go to organizations supporting women’s progress with a portion of proceeds going towards She Should Run. An additional $150,000 has been donated to the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund and its Monumental Women campaign.

With the discussion of the lack of female representation in brand mascots so heavily in the news, we tip our hat to Johnnie Walker for bringing Jane Walker front and center.
