The Creative Competition Trying To Curb Violence Against Women

Sadly, The European Commission estimates that a staggering 1 out of 3 women across Europe have experienced violence. And in response, The European Commission invited young professionals and students to enter a competition to write and create an awareness-raising video targeting the bystanders of violence.

Young professionals and students were invited to submit a pitch and the Commission received 62 applications. The winning video concept “The three wise monkeys” was submitted by Agnes Mastikian and Thibault Ludwig from Ogilvy CommonHealth France, who said:

“We wanted to use the pain experienced by social bystanders who see this violence to push against this alarming statistic and help to lower the levels of violence against women. From an agency perspective, our strongest weapon is our creativity, and our creativity gave us the concept for our video ‘Three wise monkeys’. We’re passionate about this issue and are delighted to join the movement and raise awareness of this worthy cause.”

Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Věra Jourová said, “Violence against women doesn’t belong to Europe and we all have a role to play to address it. I am glad the campaign is also supporting the training of police officers, social workers and lawyers amongst others. Women victims of violence can only be truly protected if all relevant actors are on board.
